Tarot

Before it told fortunes, tarot played cards. The earliest decks — northern Italy, the 1440s — were made for a trick-taking game, no more mystical than a deck of bridge cards. It wasn't until three centuries later that occultists began reading meaning into the Fool's journey, the Tower's collapse, Death's scythe.

Both stories are true now. Wear whichever one you came for.
